Electric Vehicle Company Opens 1st Anne Arundel County Location
This electric vehicle company just opened its first Anne Arundel County location. With a range of over 400 miles, the EVs start at $70,000.
GLEN BURNIE, MD — California-based electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian recently opened a service and demo center in Glen Burnie, its second in Maryland and its first in Anne Arundel County.
Rivian is leasing a full building spanning 31,320 square feet at 77 Dover Road, just off Ritchie Highway, also known as Maryland Route 2.
The location held a grand opening Saturday, offering demo drives of Rivian's R1T, a five-seat truck, and R1S, a seven-seat SUV.

The R1T starts at $69,900, while the R1S starts at $75,900. Both have an estimated range of at least 410 miles on a full charge and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds or less.
Rivian is developing cheaper alternatives with the R2 SUV starting at $45,000 next year. The R3 SUV is also in development, but its release date and price point haven't been officially announced.

The company also launched commercial van sales in February.
The center is located in Glen Burnie Crossing, an eight-building business community featuring nearly 160,000 square feet of space targeting the automotive and automotive retail industries. Existing tenants include Advanced Mechanical Repair, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Collision Hero and Line-X. Floor & Decor.
"The Rivian Service + Demo Center is designed to support current and future Rivian owners throughout the greater Baltimore-Washington, D.C. area and joins an existing location in Gaithersburg," landlord St. John Properties said in a press release. "The service center will support owners when more extensive vehicle service is required, in addition to Rivian’s network of mobile service vehicles that come directly to customers."
Anne Arundel County seems open to the electric vehicle market.
About 59% of respondents to the spring poll from Anne Arundel Community College do not support President Donald Trump's proposed "reduction of air pollution standards on cars combined with the reduction in incentives to purchase electric cars." About 33% supported the air quality rollbacks and cuts to electric vehicle incentives.
Rivian's production is up, but its deliveries are down. In the first quarter of 2025, Reuters reported that the company produced 14,611 vehicles, compared to 13,980 a year ago. Quarterly deliveries, however, were at 8,640, compared to 13,588 a year prior. Rivian still believes it will hit its annual delivery forecast, Reuters said.
Reuters said Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe pointed to expected tariffs on parts imported from Canada and Mexico that will affect its supply chain. Short-term demand is favoring cheaper hybrid and gas vehicles amid uncertainty around electric vehicle costs and policies. Medium- and long-term demand for EVs is still expected to return.
Anticipating a growing customer base, Bloomberg reported that Rivian stockpiled EV batteries from Asia before Trump's tariffs took effect.
