2024 Golden Apple Educator Awards Give To Harford County Teachers
Four Harford County teachers have been given 2024 Golden Apple Educator Awards for their initiatives at their buildings.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Several teachers have received 2024 Golden Apple Educator Awards given by Freedom Federal Credit Union.
They include:
$2,000 Award: Sue Nickerson of Fountain Green Elementary School, created a "Warrior Challenge" kinesthetic sensory path around the school.

$1,000 Award: Lauren Byrd of Hickory Elementary School, assembled classroom transformation tubs filled with items teachers would need to transform their rooms according to several themes.
$500 Award: Chris Hedges of Havre De Grace ES, planted a native pollinator garden so that students can learn about pollination and the importance of insects.

$500 Award: Sara Shoemaker of Emmorton Elementary School, designed an immersive play-through-learning experience for 5-year-olds learning Spanish as a second language.
