3 Dunkin’ Regional Scholarship Winners Hail From Harford County

Dunkin' and its franchisees in the DMV area awarded each of these recipients with a $2,500 scholarship to pursue an undergraduate degree.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Ten students from across Howard, Harford and Prince George's counties are scholarship recipients of the annual Dunkin’ Regional Scholarship Program that awarded $125,000 in scholarships to 50 local students throughout Maryland, D.C., and northern Virginia.

Dunkin’ and its franchisees in the DMV area awarded each of these recipients with a $2,500 scholarship to pursue an undergraduate degree at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school of their choice in the fall.

Recipient: Samuel Tesfai
Hometown: Bel Air
High School: C. Milton Wright High School
University: Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Bio: Samuel served as the captain of the Academic Team and as the founder and president of the Black Student Union. He was the service coordinator for the National Honor Society and a student researcher at the University of Washington. Additionally, Samuel was a board member of Techbrick Education, a STEM equity nonprofit and the team captain of the First Tech Challenge Robotics Team.

University: California Institute of Technology
Bio: Matthew is a co-author on a research paper titled “Microphysiological Models of Lung Epithelium-Alveolar Macrophage Co-Cultures to Study Chronic Lung Disease” and another research paper titled “Epigenetic Reprogramming Drives Epithelial Disruption in COPD.” He played for Pipeline Soccer Club ECNL and C. Milton Wright Varsity Soccer, serving as the captain of the varsity soccer team in 2023. He was named to the 1st Team All-Metro and 1st Team All-State in 2023, and the 1st Team All-County and 2nd Team All-State in 2022. In 2021, he was recognized as part of the ECNL Northeast All-Conference.
