$50K Winning Lotto Ticket Claimed By Aberdeen Grandpa
An Aberdeen grandfather has claimed a $50K lotto ticket win. The regular lotto player plans to hang on to his winnings for now.
ABERDEEN, MD — An Aberdeen grandpa ended up winning $50,000 on one of his routine visits to Klein's ShopRite after his breakfast to buy a $2 quick-pick Bonus Match 5 ticket.
Following his daily routine, he waited until that night to check his tickets. He was stunned when he saw he had the winning numbers.
“I knew it was a winner,” the grandfather tld Maryland Lottery officials. “But, I took it back to the store the next day to have them take a look, too.”

The cashier confirmed the retired maintenance worker’s suspicions that he had matched five numbers to win the $50,000 top prize in the Aug. 15 drawing.
“She looked at me and told me to go to Baltimore to claim it,” the Aberdeen grandfather said.

The Harford County resident shared his news with family members and his daughters helped him with the prize-claiming process. One of them accompanied the big winner to claim the prize recently at lottery headquarters.
“We definitely went over the winning numbers to make sure it was a winner,” she told Maryland Lottery officials. “He was right and here we are.”
The loyal player said he has no immediate plans for his small fortune. However, he does intend to continue buying lottery tickets every day.
Klein’s ShopRite located at 949 Beards Hill Road in Aberdeen will receive a $500 bonus from the lottery for selling the top-prize winning ticket.
