$50K Winning Lotto Ticket Claimed By Novice Lottery Player From Edgewood

An Edgewood man has claimed a $50K winning lottery ticket. As a newbie lottery player, he was stunned with his win.

EDGEWOOD, MD — A Harford County man credits beginner's luck with his $50,000 lotto ticket win.

The Edgewood resident bought one Pick 5 ticket that netted him $50,000. He was watching Sunday football and had an urge to buy a lotto ticket.

“You ever have one of those days when everything is going right?” he asked a lottery official when he claimed the prize at lottery headquarters. “I was having one of those days and then I saw a lottery commercial and thought to myself, ‘I’m going to play.’”

He headed to Geresbeck’s Bi-Rite in Baltimore to try his luck. Since he's only played Pick 5 a few times, he got help from another lottery player in the store. That person used his own numbers and the Edgewood man ended up winning.

“When I saw my numbers looking back at me, I thought it was fake,” said the big winner. “So, I went back to the store to scan the ticket to see that I actually did win.”
