Man Killed In Head-On Car Crash In Joppatowne

A 72-year-old man has died after the vehicle he was driving crossed over into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle head on, police say.

JOPPATOWNE, MD — Shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday, Maryland State Patrol officers were called to MD Rt. 152, (Mountain Road) north of Singer Road in Joppatowne for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.

The initial investigation indicates a Buick LeSabre was travelling north on Rt. 152 when it crossed through the center turn lane into the southbound lane and hit a Toyota Corolla head on. The 72-year-old man driving the LeSabre was taken to University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he later died. The 37-year-old man driving the Corolla was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma by ambulance, according to police.

The identities of the men involved have not been released yet pending notification of family members.
