Police Warn Bel Air Residents of Money Scams

Several residents have lost thousands of dollars to fraudulent money solicitation.

Several Bel Air residents were recently scammed out of thousands of dollars and police are warning the community to be on alert.

Residents should be wary of unsolicited emails, letters or phone calls boasting of miracle cures, lottery winnings and prizes, police stated in a press release. These communications often ask the recipients to pay fees in order to receive a larger prize, but the prize is never awarded.

Bel Air Police Chief Leo Matrangola confirmed reports of the fraud cases in Bel Air, leading to the loss of thousands of dollars.
