Route 1 Delays Possible Thursday: Harford County Sheriff's Office

The Army-Navy ball run will course through Harford County Thursday, Dec. 9.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Delays are possible along US 1 in Harford County Thursday night, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Members of the Naval Academy will carry a football along Route 1 before the Army-Navy game this weekend, officials said.

Before the rivals square off, the Army runs its game ball from West Point, New York, and the Navy midshipmen run their ball from Annapolis.

The Naval Academy started the practice in 1981, which has become a tradition leading up to the Army-Navy game.

The ball will be in Harford County around 9 p.m. Thursday, the sheriff's office advised.

The Navy Midshipmen (3-8) will take on the Army Black Knights (8-3) on Saturday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. CBS will air the game nationally.
