Scratch-Off Sold In Forest Hill Wins $50,000

A Harford County woman bought a ticket on her sister's birthday and ended up with a present of her own, Maryland Lottery officials reported.

FOREST HILL, MD — A gas station in Forest Hill sold a $50,000 winning lottery ticket recently, according to the Maryland Lottery.

A Jarrettsville woman bought the ticket for the $5 Power 5s game in November, within weeks of the game's release.

Her purchase occurred on Nov. 26, which she said was her sister's birthday, and she told lottery officials was thinking of her when she made the decision to play the game. She got the ticket from bin No. 26 at the lotto vending machine at the Forest Hill Exxon, officials said.

The $5 Power 5s game was released in mid-November, and $50,000 is the top prize. There are six remaining grand-prize tickets available as of Monday, Dec. 13.

Players scratch off the bubbles on the ticket. A "5" means they won the prize shown; "55" means they have won double the prize shown; and "555" means they collect triple the prize shown.

With her $50,000 win, the Jarrettsville woman said she plans to share her winnings with family, and she may take a "nicer-than-usual" beach vacation, according to the Maryland Lottery.
