Stormy Start To Labor Day Weekend Before Sunny Holiday In MD

If you have outdoor Labor Day weekend plans in Maryland, here's what you need to know about the forecast and when to expect rain.

MARYLAND — If you have outdoor plans this holiday weekend, Labor Day appears to be the best day, with plenty of sun and lower humidity in the forecast. There are rain chances Friday through Sunday in the forecast for much of Maryland.

First, we have to get through one last round of severe weather expected over portions of the Mid-Atlantic, the National Weather Service said. Damaging winds will once again be the primary threat, while isolated flash flooding will remain possible.

As Accuweather describes it, Monday seems to be the "best day of the holiday weekend." Expect a high of 78 and a low of 64, with just an 18 percent chance of rain.

Showers and thunderstorms will drench a broad zone from Texas and Louisiana to Michigan, western New York, central Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware from Friday to Friday night, Accuweather said. Rain won't fall constantly across this large area, but some thunderstorms that occur, especially between 2 and 8 p.m. local time, could bring heavy rain, gusty winds and potentially severe conditions.

Here's the detailed Maryland forecast from the National Weather Service:
