Fallston Retaining Wall Did Not Collapse

The retaining wall near the Fallston McDonald's was intentionally disassembled at the property owner's request.

The retaining wall along Route 1 near the was disassembled intentionally to fix a cosmetic problem.

A  incorrectly reported the wall had collapsed. Patch regrets the error. 

“It definitely didn’t collapse," said Conrad Gagnon, president and owner of Ivy Hill Land Services, on Monday.

Gagnon said the property owner was concerned about cracks in the wall. An engineer examined the wall and determined the wall was stable and there was no need to alter it, said Gagnon.

The property owner ultimately chose to have the cracks fixed for cosmetic reasons.

"There was no structural issue whatsoever," Gagnon said. “It was an extreme example of customer service."

The wall was dismantled and the broken block replaced.
