'I Am Going To Kill You' Accused MD School Shooter Says On Video

Video footage shown during the trial of Jaylen Prince, 16, in the shooting death of 15-year-old Warren Grant has brought some to tears.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Testimony continues in the trial of Jaylen Prince, 16, who's been accused of taking a 9mm ghost gun to school and using it to kill 15-year-old Warren Grant September 2024 in a bathroom at Joppatowne High School.

Prince has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for Grant’s death.

Videos shown during the trial include first responders working to save Grant's life, as well as his last moments before losing consciousness, reported WBAL. Witnesses for the prosecution testified about the moments before, during and after Grant was shot during a fight in the boys bathroom on the fourth day of school.

The school's principal, Melissa Williams, testified Thursday that she saw five or six boys carrying the body of the victim out of the bathroom and down the hallway, WBAL reported. During opening statements delivered Wednesday, prosecutors said investigators found a 9 mm shell casing in the bathroom, but a gun has not been found. But a photo of a gun found on Prince's cellphone is proof enough, prosecutors argued.

The Joppatowne High School principal took the stand Thursday and testified that she was on a call in her office when she saw students running from the B wing of the school. She followed them and that's when she saw a handful of students carrying a wounded Grant down the hallway. Williams told the jury that Prince had a history of getting into trouble at school. He had been involved in multiple fights and recorded more than 100 absences in the 2023-2024 school year, WJZ reported.

Another student who testified said Grant told him to take a video when he and Prince began arguing in a school bathroom right before the shooting. The video captured Prince saying, "I am going to kill you," before he reached into his backpack and pulled out a gun.

On Thursday, Harford County Circuit Judge Kevin Mahoney issued a security order Thursday banning electronic devices in the courtroom during Prince's trial. The ban came after photos and threats were allegedly posted on social media about people testifying at the trial, the Baltimore Sun reported, including testimony from students who were in the bathroom when the shooting happened.
