87-Year-Old Man Dies In Cabin John House Fire Monday Night

Firefighters responded to a call of a house fire on Anchorage Drive around 7:30 p.m. Monday. One man died.

Alfredo Peak, 87, had smoke inhalation and respiratory burns from a fire in his home near Cabin John on Monday night, according to the MOCO Fire and Rescue Spokesman. He was pulled out of the home and later died in the hospital.

CABIN JOHN, MD — An 87-year-old man died after his house on Anchorage Drive went on fire on Monday at about 7:30 p.m.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesman Pete Piringer said the man, Alfredo Peak, was rescued from the home by firefighters and taken to the hospital, where he died.

Another occupant in the home was examined for injuries and was ok, Piringer said.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, but fire officials believe it originated in the living room.

Firefighters will go to the neighborhood at 1 p.m. Tuesday to talk to residents about fire safety. as part of the "After the Fire" procedures.
