Attempted Assault On Teenage Jogger In Chevy Chase Under Investigation
A 17-year-old who was jogging on Beach Drive in Chevy Chase Wednesday was grabbed by a man who tried to sexually assault her, police said.
CHEVY CHASE, MD — A 17-year-old girl who was jogging on Beach Drive in Chevy Chase on Wednesday afternoon was grabbed by a man who tried to sexually assault her, according to police.
At about 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Maryland-National Capital Park Police responded to the report of an attempted sexual assault in the area of Beach Drive and Leland Road.
The 17-year-old female was jogging when a white car approached her. An unknown man asked her if she wanted a ride. When she said no, the suspect got out of his car and grabbed her and attempted to sexually assault her, police said.

The 17-year-old was able to fight off the suspect, who ran back to his car and fled the scene in his vehicle toward East-West Highway, police said.
The victim was examined at a local hospital to ensure she was not injured, according to police.

The Maryland-National Capital Park Police, along with the Montgomery County Police Department, secured the crime scene and canvassed the area for the suspect but were unable to find him.
The Park Police said they will be providing additional marked and unmarked patrol units in the area.
The suspect is described as a Black man in his 20s, with long dreadlocks and wearing all-white clothing, according to police. The vehicle is described as a white Ford, possibly an older Crown Victoria.
