BETHESDA, MD — A 7-year-old boy is in critical condition after a car hit him while he waited for his school bus Wednesday morning, Montgomery County Police said in a news release.

Authorities say the boy was waiting at his school bus stop at the southwest corner of King Charles Way at Grosvenor Lane with his father and 18-month-old sibling at around 8:20 a.m. when a gold 2002 Honda Accord drove off the road and hit them. The 18-month-old was not injured, and the boy's father had minor injuries, according to police.

The Honda had been driving westbound on King Charles Way and was about to exit onto westbound Grosvenor Lane, police said. After hitting the pedestrians, the car "re-entered the roadway, travelled across both lanes and left the roadway" again, police said. The driver stayed at the scene and was not injured.
