Bethesda Woman Last Seen Before Christmas Found Dead: Police

A Bethesda woman who was reported missing by police two days ago has been found dead, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

No foul play is suspected in the death of Sarah Hughes, 51, of Bethesda, police said Thursday afternoon. Police did not say where she was found or the circumstances surrounding her death.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A Bethesda woman who was reported missing by police two days ago has been found dead, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

No foul play is suspected in the death of Sarah Hughes, 51, police said Thursday afternoon. Police did not say where she was found or the circumstances surrounding her death.

Hughes, a former journalist who previously worked at WAMU 88.5 at American University in Washington, D.C., was last seen leaving Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville on Friday, Dec. 22, according to police.

According to the Colorado Public Radio website, where she previously worked as a radio producer, Hughes received a Master of Journalism at the University of California at Berkeley. She also previously worked at Aspen Public Radio.

In 2003, while working at WAMU, Hughes founded the public radio station's Youth Voices Program. In her most recent job, Hughes worked as a senior manager at the D.C.-based Partnership for Public Service, according to her LinkedIn page.

"Her favorite public servant is the late Representative John Lewis, who imagined and brought into being a more just and democratic society," Hughes' bio says on the Partnership for Public Service website.
