Capital Crescent Trail Access Shifts Near Lot 31

Access to the Capital Crescent Trail has shifted near Bethesda Avenue as developers work to build a covered walkway over the popular trail near the Lot 31 construction site.

Trail users can hop on and off the CCT via a temporary pedestrian path and bikeway on the lot as developers cover the trail there and conduct water line work at the site, according to Ken Hartman, director of the

Parking lots 31 and 31A, at the corner of Bethesda and Woodmont Avenues, are closed to allow for the When complete, the garage will feature 940 public parking spaces.

The project is a public-private partnership between the county and developers StonebridgeCarras and PN Hoffman, who are also planning on either side of Woodmont, with 250 units and ground-floor retail.

The original trail, complete with the new cover, will be re-opened after about five to six weeks, Hartman said. The trail near Bethesda Avenue will remain covered throughout the construction of the exterior of the apartment building at the Lot 31 site, Hartman said.

The excavation and construction of the garage will also prompt the 20-month closure of Woodmont Avenue between Bethesda Avenue and Miller Avenue.

The Woodmont closure is now planned for August, according to officials.

Access to the Capital Crescent Trail will be maintained throughout the construction project.
