BETHESDA, MD — A 7-year-old boy who was hit by a car while waiting at his school bus stop Wednesday morning has died, Montgomery County Police told Bethesda Beat and NBC4.
Authorities said Wednesday that the boy was standing at the southwest corner of King Charles Way at Grosvenor Lane in Bethesda with his father and 18-month-old sibling at around 8:20 a.m. when a gold 2002 Honda Accord drove off the road and hit them. The boy's sibling was not injured and his father had minor injuries, according to police. The boy was taken to the hospital, and police said he was in critical condition immediately following the crash.
The car had been headed westbound on King Charles Way and was about to exit onto westbound Grosvenor Lane, police said. The car "re-entered the roadway, travelled across both lanes and left the roadway" again after hitting them, police said. The driver stayed at the scene and was not injured.
