Community Leaders To Honor Bethesda Olympians

Ledecky, Parsons and Zetlin to be celebrated Aug. 24.

Bethesda’s three hometown Olympians will be celebrated during a ceremony planned for Aug. 24.

Kayaker rhythmic gymnast and swimmer —the 15-year-old who stunned the world with her gold-medal finish in the women’s 800m freestyle—are set to be honored.

Community groups and leaders including U.S. Rep. Christopher Van Hollen (D), Montgomery County Council President Roger Berliner (D-Dist. 1), the , the the and Brookfield Properties will participate.

Ledecky, a rising sophomore at  was the yongest member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team. Zetlin was the and Parsons marked a third Olympic run this year after participating in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics.

The ceremony is planned for 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Bethesda Metro Center, followed by a free outdoor dance concert.
