COVID-19 In Montgomery: 141 New Cases, 5.3% Are Fully Vaccinated

Montgomery County added 141 new COVID-19 cases and two new deaths on Wednesday. About 5.3% of residents are now fully vaccinated.

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County recorded 141 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, up from 103 the day before, according to data released by Maryland's health department.

The latest addition pushes the county's cumulative total to 62,767 infections.

Two more deaths were reported overnight, official data showed, bringing the local fatality count to 1,354.

The latest death toll does not include the 45 others whose deaths were linked to the virus but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County — which is home to roughly 1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 72,609, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 378,490 coronavirus cases, 7,607 confirmed deaths, and 182 "probable deaths." Of the 960 patients being hospitalized for the disease statewide, 249 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As of Wednesday, Maryland has administered 1,149,267 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 768,468 were first doses and 380,799 were second doses.

In Montgomery County, 133,924 residents (12.7 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 55,745 residents (5.3 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
