Cyclist Struck On Massachusetts Avenue

Woman transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Update, 2 p.m.: The driver who struck a cyclist this morning in Bethesda fled the scene, and police are looking for witnesses.

Police are describing the vehicle as a "newer model mini-van, dark blue in color, [with] damage along passenger side." The van was last seen heading south on Massachusetts Avenue towards Washington, DC.

Original Post, 11:24 a.m.: A woman was struck by a car while riding her bike on Massachusetts Avenue in Bethesda Friday morning, officials said.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded shortly before 10:30 a.m. to Massachusetts Avenue and Cromwell Drive, where the woman was struck.

She was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Capt. Oscar Garcia, a Fire and Rescue spokesman.

A Montgomery County Police spokeswoman couldn't immediately confirm whether the driver stayed on the scene.
