Driver Trapped In Burning Car Dies In MOCO Crash: Officials

A driver trapped in a burning vehicle died Friday in a two-vehicle crash on I-270 near Old Georgetown Road, Montgomery Co. officials said.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A driver trapped in their burning vehicle died early Friday morning in the two-vehicle crash on Interstate 270, emergency officials said.

The crash happened about 4:15 a.m. on I-270 near Old Georgetown Road, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services.

The victim fatally pinned in their burning car was pronounced dead at the scene, FOX DC reported. The name of the victim has not yet been released.

Four people were taken to a local hospital with injuries.

All lanes of I-270 southbound were closed as a result of the crash, but were fully reopened about 8:30 a.m.
