EYA Receives Wm. S. Marvin Hall of Fame Award for Design Excellence

Editors at Builder Magazine recognize DC-Area Developer for innovative practices and commitment to environmentally friendly construction.

BETHESDA, MD - EYA, a developer of more than 40 sustainable neighborhoods close to existing transportation, employment, and entertainment centers in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, is this year’s home builder recipient of the 2016 Wm. S. Marvin Hall of Fame Award for Design Excellence by the editors of Builder Magazine.

The annual award is presented exclusively to one U.S. developer and two architectural firms who have made significant contributions to the nation’s residential housing industry.

EYA President and Co-Founder Bob Youngentob accepted the award on September 15, from Frank Anton, Vice Chairman of Hanley Wood, publisher of Builder Magazine, at a dinner held at the AIA/DC District Architecture Center in Washington, D.C.

Marvin Hall of Fame honorees include developers who are raising the bar for the housing industry through innovative building practices and who demonstrate a commitment to environmentally friendly construction and design excellence.

“I am honored to accept the award on behalf of everyone at EYA,” said Youngentob. “Innovation and responsible design is engrained in our corporate culture. We continuously strive to bring the highest level of creativity, marketability and sensitivity to every community we build.”

The Marvin Hall of Fame celebrates how great design enhances the local landscape, enriches the lives of the residents and influences the work of others.

At the ceremony recognizing the 12th class of the Marvin Hall of Fame, Anton cited EYA’s invigorating community design and enduring commitment to developing walkable neighborhoods.

“EYA has been doing this before walkability and walk scores became popular and people even knew what they were,” said Anton.

For the past 25 years, EYA has been at the forefront of smart growth development and is a leading residential infill developer. The company has embodied the spirit of walkable urban development for over two decades and has created. EYA’s award winning architecture focuses on sophisticated, neighborhood-appropriate design that enhance the DC metro region’s diverse neighborhoods.
