Governor Visits Bethesda Metro, Fair Weather, Explaining Unemployment

Things to know around Bethesda and Chevy Chase this week.

Here are five things to know for the week of Aug. 5, 2013:

1.) Expect high temperatures in the upper-70s and low 80s this week, according to The Weather Channel.

2.) Governor Martin O’Malley, Lt. Governor Anthony Brown and County Executive Isiah Leggett will be in town on Monday to "announce a major transportation investment package for Montgomery County that will create jobs, reduce congestion and improve pedestrian safety. The event also will include a major announcement regarding the Purple Line," according to a statement from the governor's office."

Look out for the governor's entourage at 12:30 p.m. at the Bethesda Metro station.

3.) Get caught up on recent news with the weekly news roundup.

4.) Have you wondered why the unemployment rate for the area is down despite all the added jobs? Blame sequestration.

5.) Mark your calendars for Thursday: Free concerts are held on summer Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. in Bethesda's Veteran's Park, at the corner of Woodmont and Norfolk avenues.
