Marriott HQ To Lay Off Nearly 900 Workers

The Marriott International hotel chain, based in Bethesda, plans to layoff more than 800 workers, according to Maryland's WARN site.

BETHESDA, MD — The Marriott International hotel chain plans to layoff more than 800 workers, according to Maryland’s WARN (Work Adjustment and Retraining Notification) site.

The website shows Marriott posted a WARN notice Nov. 14 outlining its plans to cut 833 jobs. The job cuts take effect Jan. 1, 2025.

Marriott is restructuring, a company spokeswoman told NBC Washington, and several hundred jobs will be created even as job cuts are implemented. Workers whose jobs are being eliminated are expected to apply for and be selected for the new roles and will remain with the company, a Marriott statement said.
