MD State Trooper Injured After Potomac Man Crashes Into Police Vehicle
A Potomac man was charged with driving under the influence after crashing into the back of a state trooper's vehicle Tuesday night.

NORTH BETHESDA, MD — A Potomac man was charged with driving under the influence after crashing into the back of a state trooper’s vehicle with its emergency lights activated Tuesday night, according to the Maryland State Police.
The trooper, who is assigned to the Maryland State Police Rockville Barrack, was transported to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda for treatment of his injuries. He has since been released from the hospital, police said Wednesday.
The suspect, Collin Rono, 21, was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Center, where he is waiting to be seen by a district court commissioner, according to police.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, troopers from the Maryland State Police Rockville Barrack responded to the area of northbound Interstate 270 at Tuckerman Lane in Bethesda for a report of flooding in the area.
The trooper was sitting in his marked Maryland State Police patrol vehicle with its emergency lights activated, diverting traffic from the flooding, when Rono’s Hyundai crashed into the rear of the trooper’s patrol vehicle, police said.

The crash remains under investigation, according to police.
