Montgomery County Animal Services Hosts Holiday Adoption Event

On Dec. 9 and 10, adoption fees on all adoptable pets will be reduced by 50 percent. There are about 170 animals waiting to be adopted.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – On December 9 and 10 from noon to 5 p.m., the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center will host its second annual “Holiday S.O.S.” adoption event. Adoption fees on all adoptable pets will be reduced by 50%. The special includes reduced fees on dogs, cats, small companion animals and exotic pets. Small companion animals and exotic pets include, but are not limited to, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, turtles, and snakes. MCASAC has approximately 170 animals waiting to be adopted. The shelter adopted out 72 animals during its first annual “Holiday S.O.S.” adoption event in 2017. The shelter is hoping to exceed that number this year.

Reduced fees are as follows:

  • Dogs: $75
  • Cats: $50
  • Small Companion Animals and Exotic Pets: $5 - $75

Montgomery County residents adopting a dog or cat are required to purchase a license. The $12 license fee is not included in the reduced fees.

Adoption fees for dogs & cats include:

  • Spay/Neuter
  • Microchip
  • Heartworm Test
  • Distemper and Rabies Vaccines
  • Bordetella Vaccine (dogs only)
  • Feline Leukemia/Feline AIDS Test (cats only)
  • Flea Treatment and Deworming

In preparation for the event, MCASAC will be closed on December 8.
