Person Killed By Metro Train At North Bethesda Station: Authorities

The person was struck and trapped under a train, authorities said.

NORTH BETHESDA, MD — A person was struck and killed by a Metro train Sunday in North Bethesda, according to authorities.

Emergency personnel were responding to a pedestrian struck and trapped under a train at the station in the 5500 block of Marinelli Road, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer posted on X around 5:30 p.m.

The person suffered a traumatic injury and did not survive, Piringer said in a follow-up post at 6 p.m.

Metro Transit Police confirmed its officers were working to recover the person and described the deceased as a trespasser in a post on X around 6:30 p.m., at which time trains were single tracking from Twinbrook to Grosvenor stations.
