Man Accused Of Filming Woman In MD Mall Fitting Room

Montgomery County police said the man used his cell phone to film or photograph a woman while she was changing in a store's fitting room.

BETHESDA, MD — A Rockville man is facing charges after authorities said he used a phone to film a woman while she was changing in a store fitting room.

Javier Armando Pastran Morales, 31, was charged with peeping tom and other counts following the April 17 incident at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, police said in a news release.

According to authorities, officers responded to the mall located in the 7100 block of Democracy Boulevard after receiving a call about a peeping tom.

Police said Pastran Morales used his cell phone to record or photograph a woman who was trying on clothes in an adjacent fitting room. When the victim realized she was being filmed, authorities said Pastran Morales left the fitting room and the store.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage from the mall to get a description of the suspect, who was later identified as Pastran Morales.

Police obtained a warrant for Pastran Morales and took him into custody on May 15. He was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and later released on an unsecured personal bond of $3,000.
