Slam Poetry Competition Set For Writer's Center
Event will feature renowned slam poet Taylor Mali.

The winning slam poet will receive a one-year membership in to The Writer’s Center, one free single-session workshop and a one-year subscription to The Writer’s Center’s poetry journal, Poet Lore.

There’s only space for 15 competitors, and poets can sign up by sending an email to the center by Friday, Sept. 7.
Poets will be coached by renowned slam poet Taylor Mali before the performance begins at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 14.

Mali also will take the stage for a spoken word performance as part of the evening.
Eight judges, chosen from the audience, will decide the winner.
Tickets to the event are $5 for students and Writer’s Center members and $10 for non-members.
All poets, published or unpublished, may apply. Writer’s Center staff, board and workshop leaders are not eligible.
