Uptown Deli Closes; Haandi To Take Over Space

Haandi co-owner Madan Sundriyal told Table Talk that Uptown Deli closed Aug. 14. The much-anticipated deli but “deli maven” Howard Wasserman resigned in February after the eatery was sold to a new owner in October of 2011.

Now, it looks like the Uptown has closed its doors for good. Operators of Haandi, a fixture in the downtown Bethesda dining scene, will renovate the Uptown space to provide an “upscale” dining experience and expand their menu, Table Talk reports.
