UPPER MARLBORO, MD -- A head-on crash in Upper Marlboro last week resulted in the death of a woman, police say.

Police were called to the area of Marlboro Pike and Old Crain Highway at around 11:15 p.m. on Feb. 21 to a report of a crash, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department. They found 24-year-old Virginia Curtin of Chesapeake Beach dead at the scene.

"The preliminary investigation reveals a car was traveling northbound on Marlboro Pike, when for reasons that remain under investigation, it crossed the double yellow line into the southbound lanes striking Curtin’s car head-on," the report states.

The driver of the striking vehicle was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police ask that anyone with information on the crash contact them.
