Bowie Boy A Media Sensation After Growing Hair Out for Child Cancer Patients

His aunt posted it to Twitter, and how he's getting calls from TV shows.

A Prince George's County 10-year-old recently got a haircut for the first time in more than two years.

That 10-year-old is Thomas Moore of Bowie, who decided to forego haircuts for two years after he and his mother read the story of a little girl on Facebook who had lost all her hair to cancer treatments.

TV station WUSA-9 reports that Thomas' mother, Angela Pulos, read the story of a young girl named Kyssi online when her son took notice. When Thomas learned why Kyssi had lost all her hair, he decided he wanted to do something to help her "be happy."

"That was the day I explained to him what cancer is, what the treatment actually does to the body, and I think the fact that it was a child really did something," said Pulos.

When asked why it was so important to him to do this for a child he doesn't know, Thomas said, "I'm not sure why it's important, but I do know I just want Kyssi to be happy."

The viral post has earned Thomas a lot of attention--he's even scheduled to appear on the Steve Harvey show as part of the "Harvey's Heroes" segment.
