11-Year-Old Charged In PG County After Baby In Her Care Dies: PD
Police say the 11-year-old girl admitted to assaulting the baby.
SUITLAND, MD — An 11-year-old girl is facing a child abuse charge after police say a baby left in her care died after being assaulted.
Prince George's County police said that around 3:25 p.m. on Feb.24, detectives responded to an area hospital for the report of an injured baby. The baby was suffering from severe injuries to his upper body and died on Feb. 28.
Police said the baby was left in the care of the girl's adult family members at their Suitland home on Saturday. The girl's mother went to run an errand Sunday morning and left the baby and the 11-year-old girl alone, according to police.

Police said the motive is under investigation. The girl and the baby were not related to each other, police say.
The 11-year-old is currently in a juvenile facility.
The investigation is ongoing and police said any further charges would be brought in consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.
