SUITLAND, MD -- An 11-year-old girl is facing a charge of first-degree child abuse after a baby in her care in Suitland died of "severe injuries," police say.
Prince George's County detectives were called to a local hospital at around 3:25 p.m. on Feb. 24 to a report of an injured baby boy, who died from "severe injuries" to his upper body four days later, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department. The baby was identified as 1-year-old Paxton Davis of D.C.
"The preliminary investigation reveals Davis was left in the care of the 11-year-old’s adult family members at their home on Pearl Drive in Suitland on Saturday night," the report states.
