3 Arrested As MD Car Rally Task Force Breaks Up 4 Events, Stops 5 From Happening

On New Year's Eve, the Maryland Car Rally Task Force broke up four rallies and stopped five from happening. Three people were arrested.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Three people, including one teenager, were arrested Dec. 31 as officers with the Maryland Car Rally Task Force disrupted four illegal rallies and prevented five more from happening, authorities said Thursday.

Between 11 p.m. Monday and 4 a.m. Tuesday, the task force targeted large-scale illegal car rallies that drew people from Maryland and neighboring states. The organizers' plan was to shut down roads and disrupt traffic in Prince George's County and the Baltimore region, a state police news release said.

Task force officers broke up four car rallies and stopped rallies planned for Baltimore, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties and Baltimore City.

After shutting down a car rally at Konterra Drive and Schweitzer Lane in Laurel, Maryland State troopers tracked vehicles to the 6900 block of Van Dusen Road and arrested two individuals there, according to the task force.

Adin Carr, 20, of Rockville was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, loaded handgun in vehicle and other firearm related offenses. Carr also had multiple outstanding warrants.

A 16-year-old was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and other firearm related offenses.

Maryland State troopers attempted to stop a man who got into a vehicle and fled the rally. Troopers later found the vehicle in the 13600 block of Baltimore Avenue in Beltsville. The driver was identified as Aberon Alem, 23, of Bowie, who was charged with fleeing and eluding, as well other traffic-related offenses.
