$40K Winning Lotto Ticket Will Help Prince George's Man Fund Retirement Plans
A Prince George's federal employee has won $40K in the Mega Millions drawing. He plans to use the money to fund his retirement.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A devoted lottery player from Prince George's County has won $40,000 in Mega Millions.
“I buy a ticket for just about every Powerball, Mega Millions and Multi-Match drawing,” the federal employee told Maryland Lottery officials. “Once in a while, I may miss one of them (the drawings), but I will never ever forget to get a ticket on a Mega Millions night,” he said.
The federal employee shared his strategy with lottery officials.

“I buy tickets for all three games each week, but I don’t check the results right away. I wait until I have a sizeable stack of them before I do. Sometimes it’s not until three weeks after the drawing," he said.
After scanning the July 19 ticket a second and third time, he was able to accept that the $30,000 win was real. He had bought a $3 quick-pick ticket for the drawing, adding the Megaplier in hopes of multiplying any win. That decision tripled his $10,000 prize.
