Residents Asked To Check Cameras After 47 Vehicles Burglarized In Early Morning Spree

Laurel residents are asked to share any security camera footage they may have of the suspects who burglarized 47 vehicles across town.

LAUREL, MD — Nearly 50 vehicles across Laurel were broken into during the early morning hours of May 4, police report, and items were stolen from the vehicles.

The break-ins targeting 47 vehicles happened Sunday not just in Laurel, but in neighboring jurisdictions, too, the Laurel Police Department stated.

"The footage from the community that we have received so far shows a group of individuals, some of whom are wearing head lamps, roaming through parking lots and breaking car windows to gain entry. We urge residents of the city of Laurel and the greater Laurel area to review footage from their doorbell and home security cameras for any suspicious activity that may have captured these incidents," according to the Laurel Police Department.

Residents with footage are asked to use a QR code to upload any helpful footage from their phones straight to the police department.

"We encourage anyone who sees anything suspicious or who witnesses any incident like this in the future to call us immediately at 301-498-0092. Don't hesitate, call us as soon as you see something," the police department urged residents.
