One Prince George's school earned the award a second time, while five earned the award a third time.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — One school in Prince George's has been honored with the Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education award for a second time, while five Prince George's schools were recognized with this award for a third time.

Benjamin Tasker Middle School received its second designation. Accokeek Academy, Glenarden Woods, Heather Hills and Valley View elementary schools, and Walker Mill Middle School received their third designation.

Since 2010, the EGATE program has recognized 133 public schools with outstanding gifted and talented education programs. To achieve the EGATE designation, school personnel work to document gifted and talented programs in a 15-month period, identifying 21 criteria for excellence under four program objectives: student identification, curriculum and instruction, professional development, and program management and evaluation.
