ATM Robbery Suspects Who Used Jaws Of Life To Bust Open Machines Face 95 Charges: PGPD

Three robbery suspects who used jaws of life to break into ATMs across Prince George's now face a combined 95 charges, police say.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Three men have been arrested and charged in connection to multiple ATM robberies that happened across Prince George's County since late January.

The investigation revealed the suspects targeted ATMs at businesses across the county. In five robberies, the suspects used hydraulic rescue tools, commonly called the “jaws of life,” to break into the machines and steal tens of thousands of dollars in cash. Detectives estimate that approximately $200,000 was stolen during these robberies.

On March 19, the PGPD’s Fugitive Unit located and arrested one suspect in Clinton and two others in Washington, D.C. The suspects are 34-year-old Maurice Roots of Washington, D.C., 33-year-old Jeff Crews of Washington, D.C., and 39-year-old David Jerome Walker of Washington, D.C. MPDC officers served multiple search warrants on the suspects’ residences, which recovered cash and firearms. Additional evidence also was recovered including multiple vehicles, according to police.
