Barber Celebrates 24 Years Of Business At Mr. Smith's Barber Studio
Howard L. Smith, Jr. celebrated 24 years with his business, Mr. Smith's Barber Studio, which is located at the Laurel Shopping Center.

LAUREL, MD — Mr. Smith's Barber Studio celebrated its 24th anniversary this year at the Laurel Shopping Center.
Opened by barber Howard L. Smith, Jr. in February 2000, the barber studio offers clients traditional shaves and haircuts. The business also regularly gives back to the community to support those who have supported Smith all these years.
“His business is not just a barbershop but a business that gives back to our underserved residents in the Laurel community by providing free haircuts and backpacks for back-to-school drives. His philanthropic service has not gone unnoticed in our city," Laurel Mayor Keith R. Sydnor said a celebration honoring Smith for his achievement.

Smith also mentors young barbers and sweepers hoping to pursue a successful career like him.
"I have always wanted to create an atmosphere where my barbers could reach their full potential and our amazing clients could receive high-quality services in a family-friendly environment," Smith told Patch. "We are truly humbled by the recognition from the city of Laurel. For over 24 years, we have strived to be a premier destination at Laurel Shopping Center and to create an atmosphere where my barbers could reach their full potential. We take pride in offering excellent grooming services in a friendly, inviting space for clients of all ages. Whether through our top-notch services, back-to-school drives or other community events, we remain committed to serving Laurel and the greater community for many more years."
In honor of his 24th anniversary, Smith was celebrated at a special event earlier this year that was attended by past and present clients, community members, fellow business owners and city officials. He was presented with a proclamation and a key to the city.
