The Baysox offense started slow and fell behind early Friday evening against Erie and they were never able to catch-up as they lost 5-1 and fell to 6-10 overall this season.
After second baseman Jonathan Schoop singled in the bottom of the first inning, Erie starter Kelvin De La Cruz did not allow another hit until the bottom of the sixth inning when right fielder Antoan Richardson reached on a lead off bunt single. Before Richardson’s single, De La Cruz had retired 13 consecutive batters. The team recorded just four hits in the game, tying their season-low.

“We had some opportunities, [Antoan] Richardson had some good at-bats and [LJ] Hoes had three solid hits up the middle, but we couldn’t get the big one to fall,” said Manager Gary Kendall. “I wasn’t disappointed with how we swung the bat; we just couldn’t find the holes. Everything we hit, we hit right at someone.”
