Between The Bread Deli Shop In Hyattsville Offers Signature Sandwiches, Desserts

Between the Bread Cafe celebrated 1 year in Hyattsville this spring. The deli offers 8 signature sandwiches, homemade sides and more.

HYATTSVILLE, MD — For fresh made sandwiches, soups, salads and sweets, hungry residents can pop by Between the Bread Cafe located at 5105 Baltimore Ave.

Renata “Toni” Roy-Pinkney and her husband, John Pinkney, opened the deli in March 2023. They offer eight signature sandwiches using artisan bread and fresh carved meats. There's also a roasted vegetable sandwich with sautéed mushrooms, peppers, carrots and onions for those who don't consume meat. There's also creative salads and freshly made sides like coleslaw, southern potato salad, tossed cranberry and kale, and a pasta salad. Soups vary and include potato broccoli and Maryland crab, Roy-Pinkney told Patch.

The deli also offers sweets including chocolate chip cookies, deep dish southern sweet potato pie and a peach cobbler cake. Drinks include coffee with flavors that change weekly, ice teas and lemonades that can be infused with fruit.

The couple owned the shop after having spent 10 years in the hospitality industry. They were asked by a former eatery owner if they wanted her spot and John Pinkney, a lifelong Prince George's resident, couldn't have been happier to set up shop in his home area.

"Your choices are served with very satisfying portions between the bread or without bread with deli options served in a deli meal bowl. Our sweets are real treats worth the extra calories and workout," Roy-Pinkney told Patch. "We want customers to enjoy the legendary deli taste and sandwich styles of New York, New Jersey and the famous Baltimore City's 'Corn Beef Row.'"
