Construction Work Along I-95, I-495 In Prince George's Starts April 16

Construction will take place the week of April 16 along I-95 and I-495 in Prince George's County, weather permitting.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin milling and paving at several locations along I-95 and I-495 in Prince George’s and Montgomery counties next week. Weather permitting, all work will be complete by late spring.

Work will take place overnights, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. During that time, motorists can expect lane shifts and lane closures. The State Highway Administration understands roadwork can cause delays and asks motorists to be patient and stay alert. The work will help preserve the pavement and create a smoother ride quality on I-95 and I-495.

During the week of April 16, crews will begin working at the following locations:

  • I-495 (Capital Beltway) Inner Loop (eastbound) between the bridge over Northwest Branch east of MD 193 (University Boulevard) and the Prince George’s County line; 
  • I-495 Outer Loop (westbound) between MD 193 and Seminary Road;
  • I-495 Inner Loop (eastbound) between the Seminary Road bridge and just east of US 29 (Columbia Pike);
  • I-495 Inner Loop (eastbound) between MD 193 and MD 97 (Georgia Avenue);
  • I-95/I-495 Inner Loop (southbound) between the I-95 interchange in College Park and the I-295 (Anacostia Freeway) interchange at Oxon Hill; and
  • I-495 Inner Loop (southbound) between the Montgomery /Prince George’s line and Cherry Hill Road.
