Critically Injured Driver Dies 4 Months After Car Crash

A 36-year-old Brandywine man who was critically injured this summer in a car crash has died more than 4 months after the collision.

TEMPLE HILLS, MD — A 36-year-old Brandywine man critically injured in a car crash this summer has died more than four months after the collision.

Prince George's Police announced Thursday that Joseph McGainey died Nov. 24. On July 8 around 11:25 a.m., McGainey was involved in a two-vehicle crash in the area of St. Barnabas Road and Powhanka Place.

The investigation showed that McGainey was attempting to enter the intersection of St. Barnabas Road and Powhanka Place when his vehicle was hit by a vehicle heading southbound on St. Barnabas Road. McGainey was taken to the hospital for life-threatening injuries. The second driver suffered injuries not considered life-threatening, according to police.
