PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Starting Wednesday, eligible residnets can vote in Prince George's County's special primary election to choose the next county executive and a District 5 county council representative.

The special election will find candidates who will vie to fill the last two years of former Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks’ seat after her election to the U.S. Senate in November. County Council Chair Jolene Ivey recently won a special election to an at-large county council seat and withdrew from the campaign for District 5; therefore, her seat also needs to be filled.

The Prince George's County Board of Elections posted on its website that if a voter has mailed or delivered a ballot voting for a candidate who has suspended a campaign, then the ballot has been cast and cannot be retracted.
