Elderly Man Dead After Fire Erupts In Brentwood Duplex
An elderly man was found dead in his duplex after a fire broke out early Sunday morning.

BRENTWOOD, MD — An elderly man died early Sunday morning in a house fire in Brentwood.
Prince George's firefighters were called to the duplex located in the 3400 block of Webster Street around 12:30 a.m. where they found the first floor of the duplex covered in flames. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the first floor where they found the resident dead, according to the fire department.
Crews worked around what Prince George's County Fire Acting Assistant Chief Donald Fletcher called "extreme hoarding conditions" to extinguish the fire.

Later that day, firefighters returned to Brentwood to check home for smoke detectors and install them for free if needed.
"Take this opportunity to prevent a tragedy in your home and check your smoke alarm and develop a fire escape plan. If your home is in need of a smoke alarm, please contact PGFD today at 301-583-2200 and we will install one free of charge," the fire department stated on its Facebook page.
