Evacuation At UMD Campus After Lab Experiment Goes Wrong: Police
Police evacuated the Chemical and Nuclear Engineering Building on UMD campus after a lab accident went wrong.

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Police evacuated people from the University of Maryland's Chemical and Nuclear Engineering Building after a lab accident went wrong on Wednesday.
UMD Police tweeted at 11:46 a.m. that people were conducting a lab experiment at the building and a chemical reaction caught on fire.
"Please avoid the area and follow Police direction," police said. "Additional information will be provided when it becomes available."

Authorities shut down the building and roads in the area for hours. At around 4 p.m., the building was reopened but rooms 2113 - 2235 will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

Fire and Police are still on scene. Individuals were conducting a lab experiment and a chemical reaction caught on fire. The building is closed while first responders continue to investigate.
