'Gift Cards For Guns' Event Set For Nov. 18

Residents can anonymously​ exchange a gun for a gift card—no questions asked—at the event on Saturday, Nov. 18.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Prince George's County police is teaming up with local faith organizations for a "Gift Cards For Guns" event Saturday, Nov. 18.

Residents can anonymously exchange a gun for a gift card—no questions asked. Participants who bring in a handgun will receive a gift card valued at $75, $125 or $175, depending on the type of gun, police said.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at parking lot B of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden at 600 Watkins Park Dr., Upper Marlboro.

Anyone who wants to participate is asked to respond to the collection site at First Baptist Church of Glenarden with the gun unloaded and in the trunk of their vehicle. A uniformed police officer will greet them at the entrance and provide further instructions.

Unwanted ammunition, BB and pellet guns may be disposed of at this event but will not be eligible for a gift card, police said.
