Lane Closures Expected During $5.1M Bridge Replacement Project Over Charles Branch

Drivers should expect lane closures during the $5.1M bridge replacement project over Charles Branch now through late summer 2024.

An alternating traffic pattern will be in effect with temporary traffic signals guiding drivers through the work zone between Sasscer Lane and the driveway entrance for Marlton Community Park. The project should be complete by late summer 2024.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Drivers who use the bridge on MD 382 (Croom Road) over Charles Branch in Upper Marlboro should plan ahead as traffic will be reduced to one lane while the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration works on a $5.1 million bridge replacement project.

Originally constructed in 1936, the bridge is safe for the traveling public but is nearing the end of its useful service life, planners noted. Work includes demolition and replacement of the existing 87-year-old, two-lane bridge and will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
